Struggling To Be A Parent?

Proper parenting skills are a major requirement in the lifelong child rearing preparation process and you have to be sure that you are equipped with good parenting skills.  As a parent, you should know all there is to know about you own child – we are all different by nature, and we all have a unique character aspect that identifies us to be ourselves.  It is a proven fact that most children copy their parents’ mannerisms, their actions, and their desires to follow in their parents footsteps.  However, there are also those children who do not want to become like their parents and most of the time they defy them.

Granted, the internet has given us an over-abundance of misinformation, and information-overload on the subject. Simply realize that not all parenting information can be processed by our brains in just one day. Parenting requires a lifetime of endless learning, rejoicing and even suffering before you are successful. What’s significant to keep in mind is that you should never give up on parenting. As long as you are open minded when it comes to parenting, you have guaranteed that you have won the parenting race already.

Being the parent of two children, I feel that I have been blessed to be given the duty of raising them.  They are the joy of my life. I recently came across a website that sheds light on many parenting topics of real value and has resources for those parents that may be struggling. It’s called Honest Parenting and is quite well put together.  Daniel Craven is the one who will see that you have success with effective parenting. Not only does he give parenting advice, he talks about something called the parenting style. He will take your parenting skills to a level previously unknown. This man knows child development and will unveil the mystery of this complex thing we call parenting.  Below are some excerpts from his site:

Honest Parenting is the difference between a “program” and a REAL parenting style that builds a
RELATIONSHIP and causes LASTING improvement in your child or teen!

The concept behind “HONEST PARENTING” is simple…it’s about building a POSITIVE relationship with your child or
teenager , REGARDLESS OF wherever YOUR RELATIONSHIP STANDS NOW.

It MAY seem impossible to you…but it’s NOT!  It’s about being honest with yourself, AND your child…No “reverse psychology.”  No games, tricks, power struggles, or control battles.

No “trying to get the upper hand.”  No manipulation. For goodness sake…if PARENTS manipulate CHILDREN, kids
LEARN HOW to do it!  And…by doing it ourselves, we would make it OK for THEM to do it!  This parenting style is based on COMMON SENSE and on getting the child or adolescent to improve their behavior by fashioning positive choices and showing them how those positive choices work better for them.

This information can be used with kids who have been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder,
Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Conduct Disorder,
Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder, and many other diagnoses…or, no mental health diagnosis at all.  It can be used by “regular people,” with no degree or prior training necessary.

It can be used by people who work in any profession, by people who are rich, poor, and everywhere in between.  It can be used by parents, grandparents, step-parents, foster parents, adoptive parents, teachers, and principals.  It is a way of relating, communicating, and responding that causes many areas of a child’s personality to develop properly and to encourage age-appropriate choices and behaviors.

If you have a toddler, NOW is the time to start using Honest Parenting! Also, if you are overwhelmed as a parent, or if you stay home or change plans because of your child’s behavior. Honest parenting is your answer.

Let me ask you this:
Are the punishment, rewards, and “time-outs” NOT working? Are you wondering “What Do I Do?”

Is your child’s behavior off the charts and out of check

Has your child been diagnosed with a mental health condition?

Do you find yourself arguing with other parents regarding parenting decisions?

Do you and your child yell at each other?

Do teachers and doctors want your child to be prescribed medication?

CAN YOU GIVE UP NOW???? (Of COURSE not!)

THERE IS HOPE!

If you only read ONE book on Effective Parenting  in your Whole Life…You’ll be so very glad that it was This One!

You won’t have “forever”to raise your child, and if you have a teen, then this is even more urgent!
The Time is Now!

Note: If you know anyone who may be struggling with a parenting issue, or difficult child or children, please, do them the favor of passing this information on to them. You’ll be helping the parents, as well as helping the Child .
